Travel to Serbia

VISAS Romanian and Moldovan passport holders travelling to the Republic of Serbia do not require a visa for short stay up to 90 days, during a six-month period (180 days).

Romanian ID card can also be used to travel to Serbia.

If you do not have a Romanian or Moldovan passport please check here VISA REGIME to see if you need a visa.

Visa applications may be submitted at the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Timisoara, up to 3 (three) months before travel and no later than 3 (three) weeks.

Please note that holding an entry visa does not guarantee the entry on the territory of the Republic of Serbia.

On-line application for issuing D visas - for employment

On-line application for issuing D - employment visas has started in the Republic of Serbia. Visa D allows entry

into the Republic of Serbia and stay between 90 and 180 days. It also enables the regulation of temporary

residence in Serbia.

Note:

o Holders of foreign passports who have a valid Schengen, UK and other Member States' visa, or visa of the United States of America, or have a residence permit in the countries of the Schengen area, EU or the USA, may, without prior visa application, enter, transit or stay in the Republic of Serbia up to 90 days during a six-month period, but not exceeding the expiring date of the said visas or residence permits.

o Holders of Travel Document (Aliens Passport and Refugee Travel Document) need visa for entry to the Republic of Serbia.

VISA C - Transit and short stay up to 90 days:

Visa C is issued for Transit and Short stay purposes, including tourism, business or other travel needs, and may be valid for a single, double or multiple entries into Serbia. The duration of an uninterrupted stay, and/or the total duration of successive visits of a foreigner with a short stay visa can not exceed 90 days within a period of six months, which begins on the day of the first entry.

VISA C REQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid passport (passport must be valid at least 3 months after the intended departure date from Serbia)

2. Letter of invitation:

o for a private visit – invitation letter certified by the relevant authority of the R. Serbia

o for a business visit – invitation letter by a company in Serbia;

o for tourism – proof of payment for the trip/organized tour, issued by a travel agent.

o for transit - entry visa to country of destination. If visa for that country is not required, other supporting documents relating to the purpose of visit.

3. Completed visa application form: (PDF) ;

4. Photo (size 3.5 x 4.5 cm);

5. Return ticket or Itinerary (copy of Driver License and Insurance if travelling by car);

6. Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Serbia;

7. Health insurance;

8. Visa application fee of 60 euros (+ 2 euros in the moment of issuing visa).

VISA D - extended stay from 91 to 180 days:

For travel longer than 90 days and up to 180 days, an extended stay visa D is required. Visa D may be issued under the following categories, and must be supported by documentary evidence, including:

1. EMPLOYMENT: (a) business registration; (b) employment contract, business agreement, sporting engagement or other documents as proof of work engagement of the visa applicant.

2. EDUCATION, STUDY, INTERNATIONAL STUDENT EXCHANGE, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT, SPECIALISATION, SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH: (a) proof of enrolment in an accredited educational institution; (b) registration certificate; (c) confirmation letter of professional development/specialization; (d) registration certificate and agreement with scientific-research organization; etc.

3. FAMILY REUNION: (where one spouse is a citizen of the R. Serbia) (a) Marriage certificate, not older than 6 months; (b) in case of de-facto relationships, single status certificate and statutory declarations of partners and two witnesses regarding their marriage like relationship, proof of same address; relationship registration certificate, birth certificate of mutual children if any; etc.

4. RELIGIOUS WORKER: (a) church/religious community registration certificate; (b) employment agreement or letter from the religious institution: other.

5. MEDICAL TREATMENT: (a) health institution/hospital registration; (b) health institution letter stipulating place, type and period of treatment; (c) health insurance provider letter; other.

6. REAL ESTATE OWNERSHIP: (a) Certificate of Title; (b) signed Contract of Sale; (c) Deed of gift; (d) Inheritance court decision; other.

VISA D REQUIREMENTS:

1. Valid passport;

2. Completed visa application form: (PDF);

3. 2 photos (size 3.5x4.5 cm);

4. Return ticket or Itinerary;

5. Proof of sufficient funds for staying in Serbia;

6. Letter of invitation:

o for a private visit – invitation letter certified by the relevant authority of the R. Serbia

o for a business visit – invitation letter by a company in Serbia

7. Supporting documents for extended stay in Serbia (as per the list above);

8. Proof of accommodation in Serbia;

9. Health insurance;

10. Visa application fee of 30 euros (+ 2 euros in the moment of issuing visa).

The Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Timisoara reserves the right to request additional documentation, as required.

Important information:

o Visa processing time is approximately four weeks; visa applications are assessed and approved by the Serbian authorities.

o Foreigners may bring in an unlimited amount of foreign currency to Serbia, however all amounts over 10.000 euros must be declared at the border and a receipt issued. Upon leaving the country, the amount of cash they carry out cannot exceed the amount on the receipt. For more information please see the page of Serbian Customs authorities.
